On 5th<\/sup> June 2025, we recognise the importance of protecting the environment and encourage collective action to make our world a safer place for nature to grow and prosper.<\/p>\n

World Environment Day<\/a>, the theme of which is \u201cending plastic pollution,\u201d encourages us all to think about how we use and dispose of plastic-containing products. Keep Britain Tidy<\/a> explains why plastic is a problem<\/a> and what we can do to actively reduce our reliance.<\/p>\n

Litter picks can help keep plastic out of our rivers, lakes, and seas. Keeping just one piece of plastic out of the sea could save the lives of many creatures. Don\u2019t underestimate how important it is to keep our streets and beaches clean. By being part of regular litter picks, we can all make a difference to our towns and cities.<\/p>\n

World Environment Day<\/a> is linked to a number of Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>, particularly those related to environmental protection and sustainability.\u00a0Key SDGs linked to these days include\u00a0Goal 13: Climate Action,<\/a> Goal 14: Life Below Water<\/a>, and Goal 15: Life on Land<\/a>.<\/p>\n

By taking small steps to make the world a better place, we can all create change for the better. Never underestimate what impact our actions may have on the health and wellbeing of others, including our wildlife.<\/p>\n

And so, as we dispose of our rubbish, let\u2019s not forget the fish.
\nThe sea anemones. The sea turtles. The whales.
\nThe dolphins. The seals. The Seahorses. The otters. The seabirds.
\nThey can all be hurt by our failure to dispose of our litter safely.
\nTake it home with you. Give our sea creatures a chance.<\/p>\n

And let\u2019s not forget the trees. The butterflies. The bees.
\nThe bats. The wasps. Moths and beetles. The rodents.
\nFor they are all natural pollinators. They all lend a hand to nature.
\nLet\u2019s play our part. Plant seeds. Give nature a chance.
\nCreate a sense of renewed hope.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
