I am extremely honoured to have been elected as your Regional President for 2021 – 2022. As you know I was allowed to job share the role with Katy Lang from Crieff during 2020 – 2021. This has allowed me to learn about the role and to share responsibility with Katy and indeed with the rest of the region executive. We do work as a team, and I am extremely grateful for their ongoing support and advice.
As you probably know, I am a member of SI Aberdeen, and there I have also learned much about the mysteries of Soroptimism from many long serving and committed members. As our numbers reduce throughout the organisation, I believe we have to find new and simpler ways of doing things, bringing all members on board, while never losing sight of our principle of supporting and enabling women and girls.
It is hugely encouraging to see the range and depth of work that clubs are still managing to carry out despite the lockdowns and restrictions of the last two years. We can all make a difference in all sorts of ways, whether small and local or large and international. I look forward to seeing more of you in person during the coming year. Please continue to support women and girls and don’t forget to be kind to yourselves and each other.
