{"id":415,"date":"2016-02-23T21:21:03","date_gmt":"2016-02-23T20:21:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/scotland-north\/?page_id=415"},"modified":"2020-04-22T12:28:25","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T11:28:25","slug":"si-sn-president-jeans-message-to-region","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/scotland-north\/regional-presidents-message-2018-2019\/sn-president-prue-watsons-message-2017-8\/si-sn-president-jeans-message-2016-17\/si-sn-president-jeans-message-to-region\/","title":{"rendered":"SI SN President Jean&#8217;s Message to Region 2015-16"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;374&#8243; img_size=&#8221;ful&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I am honoured to be the President of Soroptimist International Scotland North and to be working alongside a wonderful <strong>TEAM<\/strong> of women.\u00a0 Aesop said, \u2018In union there is strength\u2019 and I believe this to be so.\u00a0 This <strong>TEAM<\/strong>, the Region Executive Committee, all have individual roles and all are willing to put their heads above the parapet, to go the extra mile to support, lead &amp; direct our activities across the Region.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland North (Region) has seven Clubs with over 180 members, all women who want to make a difference locally, nationally &amp; internationally. And, by working as a <strong>TEAM<\/strong>, we can achieve great things; we can make a BIG difference, which is what we are all about! As Andrew Carnegie almost said, \u2018It marks a big step in a (wo) man\u2019s development when (s) he comes to realize that other (wo)men can be called in to help (her) him do a better job than (s)he can do alone.\u2019\u00a0 And Mother Teresa said \u2018You can do what I cannot do.\u00a0 I can do what you cannot do.\u00a0 Together we can do great things.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>And, as Andrew Carnegie said, \u2018<strong>Team<\/strong>work is the ability to work together towards a common <strong>vision<\/strong>, the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organisational objectives.\u00a0 It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Our <strong>vision<\/strong> as part of <strong>TEAM<\/strong> SI (Soroptimist International):<\/p>\n<p>We are committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities. Our mission is to inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls through a global network of members and international partnerships.\u00a0\u00a0 As a <strong>TEAM<\/strong>, we can play our part in helping to achieve the vision and the mission.<\/p>\n<p>I commend all Soroptimist Clubs\u2019 websites \u2013 do find out what they\u2019ve been up to!
