[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Over one hundred Soroptimists gathered in Perth for a most interesting and enjoyable day.<\/p>\n

Mrs Liz Grant,<\/strong>\u00a0Provost of Perth and Kinross welcomed delegates to the conference.<\/p>\n

The mystery guest speaker was\u00a0Dame Elish Angiolini QC<\/strong> who was Lord advocate for Scotland 2006-11.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”583″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Elish gave an inspirational account of her early life and career. She is currently Principal of\u00a0St Hugh\u2019s College, Oxford.<\/p>\n

Programme Action around Scotland:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Four clubs gave short \u00a0presentations of their projects:<\/p>\n

SI Glasgow City- Tomorrow\u2019s Women.<\/p>\n

SI Hamilton- The Bethany Children\u2019s Home Project.<\/p>\n

SI Kirkintilloch and District \u2013 On Call Africa.<\/p>\n

SI Perth \u2013 One- stop Women\u2019s Learning Centre (OWLS).<\/p>\n

Federation President Ann Hodgson<\/strong>\u00a0spoke to the audience about leadership and the need for change if we wish to encourage and retain new members. President Ann outlined her own career and her desire to build and improve the wonderful organisation that is Soroptimist International to make it fit for today\u2019s modern woman.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”584″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Carol Barbieri:\u00a0<\/strong>delegates\u00a0<\/strong>had a very relaxing start to the\u00a0<\/strong>afternoon as Carol led the audience through a yoga session.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”585″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Maggie Ness:<\/strong>\u00a0gave a presentation on behalf of Smalls for All informing the audience of the origins and success of the charity.\u00a0She received the \u2018knicker mountain\u2019 on behalf of Smalls for All.<\/p>\n

Linda \u00a0Fabiani:<\/strong>\u00a0Deputy Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament gave a most interesting account of her early life and political career.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”587″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]An excellent day.
