{"id":4610,"date":"2022-03-22T18:37:23","date_gmt":"2022-03-22T18:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/sevenoaks\/?p=4610"},"modified":"2022-03-22T18:37:23","modified_gmt":"2022-03-22T18:37:23","slug":"international-womens-day-2022-in-sevenoaks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/sevenoaks\/2022\/03\/22\/international-womens-day-2022-in-sevenoaks\/","title":{"rendered":"International Women\u2019s Day 2022 in Sevenoaks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>International Women\u2019s Day 2022 in Sevenoaks<\/p>\n<p>SI Sevenoaks President Pat Downing and Isobel Groves Programme Action Officer joined a hundred attenders at the Mayor of Sevenoaks Merilyn Canet\u2019s International Women\u2019s Day lunch at the Bat and Ball Centre. It was a joyous occasion planned carefully and hosted by the Mayor and Linda Larter, town clerk who is a Sevenoaks Soroptimist. The aim of the lunch was to invite sixth form pupils from local schools and young women starting out on their careers together with professional and business women in the hope that by thoughtful mixing at lunch the opportunity of mentoring was offered.\u00a0 The event was enhanced by having three speakers from different walks of life: Jennifer Godfrey spoke about her book <strong><em>The Suffragettes of Kent<\/em><\/strong>, Councillor Suzanne Clerk spoke about <strong><em>Women and their Impact on the High Street<\/em><\/strong>, and Juliette Cheveley spoke about her <strong><em>Acting Career principally as a stunt performer!<\/em><\/strong> Isobel\u2019s granddaughter Valentina, a member of Sevenoaks Youth Council, attended the event.
