{"id":807,"date":"2017-09-04T16:46:02","date_gmt":"2017-09-04T15:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/skipton\/?p=807"},"modified":"2017-09-04T16:46:02","modified_gmt":"2017-09-04T15:46:02","slug":"premature-baby-hats-the-gambia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/skipton\/2017\/09\/04\/premature-baby-hats-the-gambia\/","title":{"rendered":"Premature Baby Hats &#8211; The Gambia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Knitted hats for premature babies in The Gambia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kathleen Sutton<\/strong> has updated us with a report from Janet Brookes as follows:-<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>Margaret Crossey is a lady we have come to know from going to The Gambia, she has been going for approximately 25 year, and one thing that has never changed is the poverty.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>\u201cShe now spends six months of the year living in Garrabunda, one of the most populated areas of The Gambia. The other six months she lives in Southport and spends her time collecting items to ship out in containers to her partner Ebraham. He<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>then picks everything up from the docks and takes them to their house.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>\u201cThe locals always seem to know when Margaret (or twabab -White person) has arrived back as they form a queue outside her compound waiting to see what she has brought. She also takes the hats and blankets to the local clinics for distribution to the newborn babies.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>\u201cEbraham\u2019s family live in another part of the country in the bush, so they take things for the whole village.
