Soroptimist International - Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead

Soroptimist International of Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead is part of a worldwide organisation of women, which is linked to the United Nations.

Welcome to SI Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead

Our club was chartered in October 1961 and currently has over 20 members from a variety of professions. We give service, share friendship and also have fun. If you are a working woman who is interested in helping your community, challenging your thinking on current social issues and being part of an organisation which has over 80,000 members in more than 100 countries then maybe you would like to join our club. New members are always welcome.  Each month we meet on the third Wednesday. Currently we have our monthly meeting at the Spencer Denny Centre in Windsor  followed by a speaker and then discuss projects we are undertaking and any actions that are needed ending at around 10.00. We also have social and fund raising events.

The Club takes an active interest in local issues and has been instrumental in the provision of mental health facilities in Windsor, providing a Child Contact Centre facility for 15 years and the construction of a YMCA Hostel in Slough. It also assists DASH.    The club sponsors a young woman in the Philippines and is about to complete sponsoring a young woman through a  Law Scholarship in Nepal.  The clubprovides volunteers to help a new project -the Tuesday  Club  at  Age  Concern  Windsor.

The Club has friendship links with SI clubs in  Amsterdam Amstel, Banjul (The Gambia), Georgetown (Tasmania),  Grenada, Nigata (Japan),  Vilnius (Lithuania) and Katmandu.

Our current President is Jean Tyler and her charity is DASH (Domestic Abuse Stops Here).  The club will be fundraising for the charity throughout the year and will also be providing Pamper Bags for the residents of the Refuge at Christmas.
