It was at our new venue at <a href=\"https:\/\/himaidstonehotel.co.uk\/\">Holiday Inn, Wrotham<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Mike Pitney from <span class=\"nc684nl6\">Kent Fire and Rescue Service and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fire-aid.org\/\">Fire Aid<\/a> was the main speaker. He talked about the humanitarian work they have been doing in Ukraine and Poland. <\/span>\u00a0This work has had significant impact following the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February. 3 convoys of\u00a0 more than 60 decommissioned fire engines and fire equipment have been sent over to Poland for firefighters in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Soroptimists knitted trauma bears to go on the third convoy in May. We met the challenge set for us which was appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>We wore Orange as it was 25th of the month. This was\u00a0 in support to &#8216;End Violence Against Women&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Five clubs, <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/thanet\/\">SI Thanet,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/eastbourne\/\">SI Eastbourne<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/folkestone\/\">SI Folkestone,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/\">SI Medway and Maidstone<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SILewesandDistrict\/\">SI Lewes<\/a> presented Good News on their projects. Excellent work is being done to improve the lives of women and girls and on climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Bottle tops and blister packs were collected.
