Its aim is to raise awareness of modern day slavery through the medium of film. The three short films that followed (\u2018The Trip\u2019, \u2018Let\u2019s Talk About Sex\u2019 and \u2018Nicu\u2019) illustrated different aspects of human trafficking. Statistics cannot demonstrate the humiliation, deprivation and cruelty of modern day slavery: films can.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: small\">Margaret Molyneux, Programme Action Chair, included in her report her experiences as a volunteer at the recent \u2018End Sexual Violence in Conflict\u2019 <a title=\"link to global summit regional report\" href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/south-lancashire\/2014\/06\/19\/soroptimists-attend-global-summit\/\">Global Summit<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: small\">The afternoon\u2019s Council Meeting focused on the proposals for Associate Membership. Sue Williams (Federation Director of Membership) gave a comprehensive presentation on the topic. The debate then widened as Pat Williams (Regional Membership Officer) marshalled clubs to ask questions that had been raised at their own meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2291\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2291\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/south-lancashire\/files\/2014\/06\/President-Victoria-Smerdon-with-Sue-Williams-and-Pat-Williams.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2291\" src=\"\/south-lancashire\/files\/2014\/06\/President-Victoria-Smerdon-with-Sue-Williams-and-Pat-Williams-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"President Victoria with (L) Sue Williams and (R) Pat Williams\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/south-lancashire\/files\/2014\/06\/President-Victoria-Smerdon-with-Sue-Williams-and-Pat-Williams-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/south-lancashire\/files\/2014\/06\/President-Victoria-Smerdon-with-Sue-Williams-and-Pat-Williams.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2291\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Victoria with (L) Sue Williams and (R) Pat Williams<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: small\">The session, although lengthy, enabled a wide variety of concerns to be aired \u2013 and, Sue said, would\u00a0contribute to\u00a0the\u00a0already-extensive information in the\u00a0Members&#8217; Section of the <a title=\"link to soroptimist international great britain and ireland\" href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SIGBI website<\/a>.
