In Ramsbottom, Regional President Denise Baldwin joined fellow club members in the town centre to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. The Soroptimists gave out dozens of informative leaflets to women passing by.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\">In Southport, over 30 Soroptimists from several clubs gathered on the Marine Way Bridge. Organised by SI Southport, with participation from the Bootle, Crosby, Leigh and Liverpool clubs, the ovarian cancer event gained considerable local publicity. March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\">\u00a0<a href=\"\/south-lancashire\/files\/2012\/03\/International-Womens-Day-Soroptimists-in-Southport.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-336 alignright\" src=\"\/south-lancashire\/files\/2012\/03\/International-Womens-Day-Soroptimists-in-Southport-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"international womens day soroptimists in southport\" width=\"270\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/south-lancashire\/files\/2012\/03\/International-Womens-Day-Soroptimists-in-Southport-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/south-lancashire\/files\/2012\/03\/International-Womens-Day-Soroptimists-in-Southport.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\">At last year\u2019s Soroptimist International Federation Conference in Brighton, the Southport club seconded a resolution for members around the country to promote awareness of the disease, in association with the charity <a title=\"link to target ovarian cancer charity\" href=\"http:\/\/www.targetovariancancer.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Target Ovarian Cancer<\/a>. Soroptimists are working to distribute information, increase knowledge of symptoms and raise funds to support work in this field.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><a href=\"\/south-lancashire\/files\/2012\/03\/International-Womens-Day-Soroptimists-in-St-Helens.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-337 alignleft\" src=\"\/south-lancashire\/files\/2012\/03\/International-Womens-Day-Soroptimists-in-St-Helens-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"international womens day soroptimists in st helens\" width=\"270\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/south-lancashire\/files\/2012\/03\/International-Womens-Day-Soroptimists-in-St-Helens-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/south-lancashire\/files\/2012\/03\/International-Womens-Day-Soroptimists-in-St-Helens.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/a>Meanwhile, in St Helens, club members gathered on Saints Bridge to celebrate the coming together of women around the world \u2013 all united in taking a stand for peace and women\u2019s equality.
