Soroptimists from all over South Lancashire Region came together for a celebration lunch in honour of Margaret Emsley, the current Federation President of Soroptimist International, Great Britain and Ireland.<\/p>\n

Over 130 members, including most club presidents, were able to attend the event, hosted by Sandy Taylor (Regional President).\"Margaret<\/a>\"Federation<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Welcoming everyone, Pat Williams (Regional Membership Officer) spoke of\u00a0the universal\u00a0respect and affection for Margaret.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis exceptional gathering is testament to the esteem in which South Lancashire’s members hold Margaret – and the pride and the warmth that we feel for the achievement of one of our own\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

It has been particularly exciting for members of Margaret\u2019s own club, SI Ashton-under-Lyne, to see their friend attain the premier role within the Federation. “We are all so proud of Margaret”, said Club President Janette Meadowcroft.<\/p>\n

Ann Garvie, Immediate Past President of Soroptimist International, gave an engaging \u2018This is your Life\u2019 presentation for Margaret, dredging up incidents from yesteryear and generating mild embarrassment. But, after all,\u00a0that\u2019s what friends are for!<\/p>\n
