St Helens Soroptimists ‘in the pink’<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Current service work by South Lancashire\u2019s Soroptimists was in focus at the autumn regional Programme Action meeting. Three clubs gave presentations:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SI Leigh & District gave an update on their highly successful project \u2018Just the Job\u2019. Club members offer unemployed women information, support and practical sessions to boost their confidence and ready them for the job market. Referrals from JobCentrePlus are now an added bonus.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SI Liverpool outlined innovative techniques for fostering Programme Action. By creating focused teams within the club, all members are encouraged to take responsibility for elements of service work.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Crosby Soroptimists selling bags<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

SI St Helens charted the progress of \u201cSoroptimists go pink for breast cancer\u201d. This club project has raised the money to buy 100 digital thermometers and a selection of head-coverings for local patients. It has also encouraged members to maximise publicity through magazine articles, local radio and social media.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Three further clubs set out their stalls to tempt attendees to part with their money \u2013 all for good causes:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SI Widnes held a tombola in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SI Manchester\u00a0sold beadwork and held a raffle in aid of their 90th anniversary project HEAL: Malawi.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SI Crosby members sold their hand-crafted bags in aid of Sefton Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Aid.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
