New members and awards in focus.<\/h4>\n

Over one hundred Soroptimists from the South Lancashire Region gathered for a celebratory lunch. The spotlight was on women who have recently joined their local club.<\/p>\n

Josie Carter, Region President, welcomed them. This special event was an ideal opportunity for new members to find out about clubs\u2019 projects and achievements. Plus, they were able to get to know many other Soroptimists.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1632589534296-87e30726-ad31-3″ include=”5396,5379,5381,5380″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Guest speaker was Shana Begum, a new member of SI St Helens. Shana is the founder of \u2018St Helens The Best Me<\/a>\u2019. This is a training and coaching consultancy, working for positive changes within the community.<\/p>\n

President Josie commended two outstanding South Lancashire Soroptimists \u2013 Maureen Walsh and Dorcas Akeju of SI Liverpool. Both have been featured as part of \u2018#WhoIsShe?<\/a>\u2019, which celebrates the centenary of Soroptimist International.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1632589534312-2d0737fd-ed7d-2″ include=”5394,5384,5386,5390″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]An exhibition of memorabilia from clubs illustrated the long history of Soroptimism in the region. A memorial table of photos enabled clubs to honour past \u2013 much missed \u2013 members.<\/p>\n

Sriya Kulupana, Region Programme Action Officer, announced the result of this year\u2019s Programme Action Award. After considering all submissions from clubs, her choice was SI Crosby<\/a>. The Lunt Meadows project<\/a> is an ongoing partnership with The Wildlife Trust (Lancashire, Manchester & North Merseyside).[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1632589534326-41154ebf-9b56-5″ include=”5406,5387,5391,5407″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]President Josie\u2019s \u2018Rose Bowl Challenge<\/a>\u2019 to clubs generated many entries. After independent judging, the winner was SI Manchester<\/a>. The club was praised for the recent audit of its work. Members assessed challenges and changes \u2013 and set out a clear plan of action.<\/p>\n

Anne Grimes, Region Membership Officer, was delighted with the event\u2019s success. \u201cWe attract new Soroptimists by showcasing our impact in the community \u2013 whether local, national or international.
