A \u2018new year\u2019 for Soroptimist International of South Lancashire brings a new team for the Region.<\/h4>\n

Recently-installed President, Sandy Taylor, will be busy with visits to clubs throughout South Lancashire.<\/p>\n

Early in Sandy\u2019s year was the celebration dinner at SI Widnes<\/a> to mark the club\u2019s 80th anniversary. Sandy joined local dignitaries \u2013 plus a host of Soroptimists and friends \u2013 to mark this special milestone of service to Widnes and to communities worldwide. President Rosemary McNamara of SI Liverpool<\/a> – a ‘mother club’ to so many in South Lancashire – was another special guest. (And, of course, there was cake!)[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1734013688195-0fb21154-011a-2″ include=”6396,6395,6397″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]SI Liverpool\u2019s own celebration of International Human Rights Day is an annual \u2018institution\u2019 enjoyed by many South Lancashire Soroptimists. A reading of the United Nations\u2019 Universal Declaration of Human Rights<\/a> is always a solemn and thought-provoking element of the event. Plus, a roll-call of countries emphasises the truly international reach of Soroptimists\u2019 work and influence.<\/p>\n

Region President-Elect Sue Underwood deputised for President Sandy. SI Liverpool\u2019s guests also included The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Liverpool (Councillor Richard and Alderwoman Erica Kemp). The Lady Mayoress is, by tradition, an Honorary Member of SI Liverpool for her year in office.<\/p>\n

President Sandy said: “Clubs\u2019 special events foster friendship as well as showcasing and celebrating Soroptimists\u2019 achievements. Our Soroptimist service is effective and valued, even though we may not directly ‘see or feel’ the impact of what we have done.
