On International Women\u2019s Day (IWD) South Lancashire\u2019s Soroptimists shared details about action they have been taking in support of women and girls.<\/h5>\n

Clubs took it in turn to showcase one of their recent projects \u2013 but had only five minutes in which to make an impression. It was a tall order!<\/p>\n

Taking on women-centred themes, SI Manchester outlined support for new mothers (via baskets of babies\u2019 essentials) and SI St Helens described ongoing work in the garden at a domestic violence refuge.<\/p>\n

SI Ramsbottom collaborated with British Transport Police and Preston\u2019s Soroptimists at an information day on women\u2019s safety at Preston railway station. Safe travel was also central to SI Widnes\u2019s fundraising for \u2018pink\u2019 tuk-tuks in Sri Lanka and now, Nepal.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1741562076409-17bab705-68db-1″ include=”6451,6453,6461,6452″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mental and physical wellbeing? Women\u2019s heart health was the focus of SI Liverpool\u2019s award-winning project, in partnership with the NHS. Stockport & District Soroptimists described their active support for a local charity that develops programmes to improve mental health.<\/p>\n

Promoting climate action, for the health of our planet, was a key topic for SI Bootle & District. Specifically, SI Crosby encouraged all to ‘shop wisely’ when it comes to plastics! (Sort your PETs from your PVC.)<\/p>\n

SI Warrington took a different approach to the showcase. Their ‘crafty’ fundraising stall demonstrated the club\u2019s long-term support for PIES (Partners in Education Swaziland).<\/p>\n

‘Let\u2019s Accelerate Action’ is the mantra for IWD 2025<\/a>.
