Loans are managed by the charity <a href=\"https:\/\/lendwithcare.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LendWithCare<\/a>. This microfinance scheme enables people in low-income countries to \u2018work their way out of poverty with dignity\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Soroptimist clubs in the Region donated to the initiative; the total was then match-funded from regional funds.<\/p>\n<p>In a \u2018live\u2019 screening, President Sandy demonstrated the practicalities of the loan system. Then members agreed funding for several groups and individuals.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;white&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1749333553498-24709c36-cc52-9&#8243; include=&#8221;6527,6528,6531,6534&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Entrepreneurs supported in this first batch work in farming, retail and tailoring, and live in Togo, Vietnam and Ecuador. A total of \u00a3435 was pledged. In several instances, South Lancashire\u2019s contribution enabled some requests to be fully-funded on the day.<\/p>\n<p>The loans will be repaid over several months. Money can then be re-loaned to new entrepreneurs \u2026. and so on.<\/p>\n<p>Soroptimist International South Lancashire now has a profile on the LendWithCare website as a lender. As President Sandy wrote: \u201cSoroptimists aim to improve the lives of women and girls through their Educate, Empower and Enable programme of service and community action.
