In a year when the Club celebrates its fortieth year since it was chartered in 1976, it was most appropriate and pleasing to be able to bestow this award.<\/p>\n<p>It was made in recognition of Elizabeth&#8217;s\u00a0efforts in the early 1980s to keep\u00a0our Club going during a period of low membership and difficult times &#8211; without her, the Club might not have survived to become as popular, energetic and well regarded as it is today! \u00a0Having helped our Club to flourish, Elizabeth has been a loyal\u00a0and actively serving member through to the present day and thoroughly deserves this award.<\/p>\n<p>During 2015-16, SI Woking &amp; District raised awareness and funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association,\u00a0the President&#8217;s Charity of the year, for the Southern Region Volunteering in Pretoria (VIP)\u00a0initiative and for Thai schooling\u00a0projects as well as continuing to support regular charities such as Water Aid and Mary&#8217;s Meals.\u00a0 Since the beginning of my presidential year, our Club has donated \u00a32634.50 to charitable causes, including \u00a3810 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
