{"id":5172,"date":"2023-11-04T23:19:01","date_gmt":"2023-11-04T22:19:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/?p=5172"},"modified":"2023-12-28T23:19:37","modified_gmt":"2023-12-28T22:19:37","slug":"pink-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/2023\/11\/04\/pink-october\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Pink&#8217; October&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SI Southport has been working closely with the charity Against Breast Cancer and, as October was breast cancer awareness month, we decided to \u2018go pink\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Bernie\u2019s pink Bra Banks have been established in Southport for well over a year and she established some extra venues for October. All our amazing and supportive embraced Breast Cancer Awareness Month and held special events to support the campaign including the following:<br \/>\n&#8211; The Imperial Hotel hold a monthly Car Boot sale and the proceeds from their last event were donated to the ABC charity<br \/>\n&#8211; The Bijou cinema screened \u2018Grease\u2019, with the proceeds donated to the ABC Charity<br \/>\n&#8211; The Richmond took a Bra Bank during October and collected 3 bags full of bras at their Pensioners\u2019 Lunch<br \/>\n&#8211; The Grand hosted a bra bank and coloured their lights pink.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Atkinson, our wonderful arts centre on Lord Street, was swathed in pink on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 31<sup>st<\/sup> October to alert the town to breast cancer awareness.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5176\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5176\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/files\/2023\/12\/Pic-1-Outside-the-pink-Atkinson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5176 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/files\/2023\/12\/Pic-1-Outside-the-pink-Atkinson-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/files\/2023\/12\/Pic-1-Outside-the-pink-Atkinson-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/files\/2023\/12\/Pic-1-Outside-the-pink-Atkinson.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5176\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The &#8216;Pink&#8217; Atkinson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5177\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5177\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/files\/2023\/12\/Pic-2-Bra-Bank-at-the-Atkinson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5177 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/files\/2023\/12\/Pic-2-Bra-Bank-at-the-Atkinson-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/files\/2023\/12\/Pic-2-Bra-Bank-at-the-Atkinson-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/southport\/files\/2023\/12\/Pic-2-Bra-Bank-at-the-Atkinson.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5177\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Bra Bank at the Atkinson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The awareness month culminated in a fund-raising Charity Concert. Our own \u2018Pink Lady\u2019, Bernie Reynolds, with a small team, arranged a brilliant evening, showcasing an eclectic mix of amazing local talent to entertain us.
