Soroptimists in Westminster for Launch of \u201cReducing Women\u2019s Imprisonment\u201d campaign<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Three members of Soroptimist International St Albans & District attended\u00a0a launch of the joint Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland UK Programme Action Committee (UKPAC) and Prison Reform Trust Project to \u201cReduce Women\u2019s Imprisonment\u201d was held at the House of Commons on Thursday 25th April 2013. They are pictured here\u00a0l to r\u00a0Laura Redhead, Janet Tansley, Jane Slatter.<\/p>\n

The Westminster launch was a great success with many MPs, Ministers and Peers attending the reception alongside the many Soroptimists who had travelled there from all parts of the UK.<\/p>\n

\"UK<\/em><\/p>\n

Minister for Justice Lord McNally gave encouragement for the work, saying \u201cthis will be aligning with the new Government Strategy related to reducing the number of women in prison\u201d.<\/p>\n

Baroness Helena Kennedy endorsed the work of Soroptimists relating how she had from personal experience seen how Soroptimists mobilise and deliver.<\/p>\n
