\"\"<\/a>Harpenden Orange the World\u00a0 Campaign Thursday 27th November<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Soroptimist International St Albans and District ran their <\/span>#OrangetheWorldHerts<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Campaign for the 6th<\/sup> year from 25 November, the International Day to End Violence \"\"<\/a>Against women, which is also known as “White Ribbon Day”. This year they have been working even more closely with local Councils. Soroptimist all over the world support the global United Nations Orange the World<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Campaign from Nov 25 to 10 Dec,<\/strong> “16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women”<\/strong><\/span>. Soroptimists ask people to take action and\u00a0#CallItOut\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>whenever they see abuse of \"\"<\/a>women.<\/div>\n
As a bright and optimistic colour, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls. Orange is a great colour for getting noticed as you can see from the photos!<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>On\u00a0Thursday 27 November\u00a0<\/b>the Soroptimists’ #OrangetheWorldHerts<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/b>campaign focused on Harpenden with an event at the Eric Morecambe Centre, hosted by Harpenden Council and Cllr Beth Fisher, Mayor of Harpenden. Guests were encouraged to “Have Your Voice Heard!\u201d and explore different perspectives at this interactive event. Police Sergeant Mark Essam from Harpenden \"\"<\/a>Neighbourhood Policing gave a presentation which led to some positive group discussions about the way forward to end the abuse of women. You can click here to view Mark’s presentation Police Harpenden VAWG.<\/a> He told us that from 1 Jan to 27 Nov 2025, there were 307 crimes recorded in relation to criminal incidents and 150 to non-criminal incidents in Harpenden categorised as “domestic violence”. There were families of victims of domestic violence in the audience which made the \"\"<\/a>discussions very real. Deputy Lieutenants Kate Belinis (also a member of Soroptimist International Hertford & District) and Alderman Annie Brewster JP asked questions were engaged in the interactive session. Harpenden MP Victoria Collins was also in attendance which meant that she was able to pick up on \"\"<\/a>points raised to take up with central government.<\/div>\n
The “Orange the World<\/b>” Campaign takes place all over the world, right up to Human Rights Day on 10 December.<\/div>\n
