{"id":4222,"date":"2017-07-03T15:28:52","date_gmt":"2017-07-03T14:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/st-albans-and-district\/?p=4222"},"modified":"2017-07-18T22:49:28","modified_gmt":"2017-07-18T21:49:28","slug":"health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/st-albans-and-district\/2017\/health\/","title":{"rendered":"Action Needed to Improve the Health of the 51%: Women"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/st-albans-and-district\/files\/133-EdMullinsSEWTeam.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4218\" src=\"\/st-albans-and-district\/files\/133-EdMullinsSEWTeam-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"133-EdMullinsSEWTeam\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/st-albans-and-district\/files\/133-EdMullinsSEWTeam-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/st-albans-and-district\/files\/133-EdMullinsSEWTeam-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/st-albans-and-district\/files\/133-EdMullinsSEWTeam.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><strong><i id=\"x_yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1492084704418_349068\">Dr Edward Mullins (Ed) was a thought provoking speaker with some authority on the subject of women&#8217;s health at our meeting on 26 June.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ed is Senior Registrar in Obstetrics\u00a0and Gynaecology at Queen Charlotte&#8217;s and Chelsea Hospital and\u00a0Editor-in-Chief of the recent<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/chief-medical-officer-annual-report-2014-womens-health\"><i id=\"x_yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1492084704418_349068\">\u00a0&#8220;Annual Report on Women&#8217;s Health&#8221;<\/i><\/a><i id=\"x_yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1492084704418_349068\">\u00a0<\/i><\/strong>and presented the findings of this ground-breaking report prepared for the first female Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Professor Dame Sally Davies. Some of the highlights were around violence against women, pregnancy, menopause, incontinence, ovarian cancer, obesity, Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE). One of the challenges is to encourage women to speak openly about some of these issues which in the past have been considered &#8220;taboo&#8221;.
