Soroptimist International St Albans and District Women’s Group proudly made this announcement following the\u00a0Abbey Theatre Charity Night on 5 Oct. “Juliet and her Romeo” by Sean O\u2019Connor and Tom Morris was performed by the Company of Ten\u00a0www.abbeytheatre.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Everyone who attended said how much they enjoyed this new take on the well known Shakespeare drama – they had a great evening supporting Soroptimists and the Women’s Refuges.<\/p>\n

Jean Eaton (pictured here at the Theatre) was the driving force behind this excellent result – working hard to sell tickets (it was sold out!) and organise the raffle on the night.<\/p>\n

The money will provide\u00a0much needed funds for the\u00a0St Albans & Hertsmere Women\u2019s Refuge<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0\u00a0Welwyn Hatfield Women\u2019s Refuge<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Juliet and her Romeo by Sean O\u2019Connor and Tom Morris:<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet viewed afresh through older eyes. The star-crossed lovers are not teenagers fighting for love at any cost but residents in the Verona Care Home seeking passion and fulfilment before their time runs out. Retelling the words and poetry of Shakespeare shows that falling in love is not just for the young but a “wise sort of madness” that can affect even the most experienced.<\/em><\/p>\n
