Members of St Austell and District Soroptimists attended St Austell Library on Saturday March 4th to celebrate World Book Day. Families were delighted to find a large collection of books available to them for free! Book donations to the club included something suitable for every age group and so members were able to help their young visitors select something that they liked.
Local schools had marked World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March and children had been told that there was going to be a special event at the library on the Saturday. Balloons and banners surrounded the book stall and from opening at 10.00 a.m. until closing at 13.00 p.m. the stall drew quite a crowd. All ages and tastes were catered for, from ‘That’s not my Mermaid’ to Alex Rider adventures.
Our thanks to our volunteers who spent the morning at the library but especially to those that donated such a great selection of books. Thank you to the hardworking librarians for their encouragement and practical support.
