The Stafford Soroptimist Club and Staffordshire Women’s Aid have each donated £90 ( a total of £180 ) to The Dalit Freedom Network.

The £180 will provide a Years education for a vulnerable girl in IndiaDSC01568

45.8 Million people are enslaved in the world today of these over 18 Million (approx. 40% ) of the global total are in India

The Dalit Freedom Network is a Trafficking Prevention and Women’s Empowerment Organization working on behalf of women and children from Dalit ( Untouchable ), tribal and other poor and Marginalized communities in India.

Dalit Freedom Network supports on – the – ground trafficking prevention programmes run by and led by Indian Partners, these are integrated with Education, Healthcare and Economic Empowerment.

Kumar Swany, India Director of Dalit Freedom Network said:   Violence against women and exploitation such as Human Trafficking is a global problem. We are grateful for this expression of solidarity from those working in the U.K.      The money will provide a vulnerable girl with a quality Education in one of our schools so that she can gain skills, knowledge, confidence and dignity which will help to give her opportunities in life and to escape exploitation and abuse.  ( The girls are also given school uniforms and essential school items)

Staffordshire Women’s Aid provides help and support for women and children suffering from the impact of domestic and sexual abuse. Staffordshire Women’s Aid recognizes that violence against women and girls is a global problem and are working with Soroptimist International of Stafford to support the Dalit Freedom Network to sponsor the education of a girl in India.
