R N L I Panje Project 15-05-18

Tom Mecrow, from the RNLI told us about their Panje Project (teaching girls to swim and saving lives )

360,000 people drown every year. In over half of all drowning deaths the victims are young ( under 25 years of age )

The Panje Project, in Zanzibar, is teaching girls to swim  ( in the past only boys were taught to swim )

As well as learning to swim the girls are being taught Water Safety Skills ( in Zanzibar the people use the ocean every day ) many are also training to be instructors as the girls are only allowed to be taught to swim by female instructors.

Our charity this year is  Swim To Save A Life, The money will go to the Panje Project
