On 8th July members welcomed Andrea Wood with her mother and fellow Soroptimist, Patricia Gatherum. Andrea gave an interesting and poignant talk about living with Endometriosis, entitled Sex, Drugs and Hot Water Bottles.

A good start to the new year…… the club president welcomed two new members.
December 2013
Donations from members enabled the club to donate seasonal food gifts to the local refuge for women. Three club members also help to raise money for Marie Curie by collecting in one of the local supermarkets.
8th November 2013 – Daisy Chain Christmas Fair
In Sandra Jones’s year as President, £5 was donated to each Club Member with the challenge to increase this amount. Club members Sandra Jones, Liz Wood and Chris Graham used their £5s to book a stall at Daisy Chain’s Christmas fair. Jewellery, handbags and scarves were sold and the grand sum of £227.50 was raised. A very enjoyable experience all round.
The total raised from the £5 challenge enabled the club to present a cheque for £500 to the Butterwick Children’s Hospice.
28th August 2013 – Visit to Daisy Chain, Norton
Members visited the 5.5 acre Daisy Chain farm to present a cheque for £710 collected at the Strawberry Fayre. It was interesting to see the developments since some members had visited the charity not long after it was established in 2003.
30th June 2013 – Strawberry Fayre
SI Stockton on Tees held a strawberry fayre in the beautiful garden of one of their members, Angela Johnson. It was well attended by about 50 people who enjoyed glorious sunshine and numerous delicious strawberry desserts and gateaux.The event raised £710 for the local charity Daisy Chain which supports families affected by autism.
9th April 2013 – Tapas Evening
A Tapas evening was hosted at a Member’s home and attended by current and prospective Club Members. A good time was had by all and £100 was raised to purchase 5 mattresses for Syrian Refugees via Oxfam.
29th March 2013 – Marie Curie Collection
Club Members, Angela Johnson and Joyce Chesney, taking over the collection for Marie Curie from SI Middlesbrough President Annabel Young on Yarm High Street.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Club Members presented information stands on Soroptimists International at Stockton library raising awareness of the organisation.
21st February 2013 – Joint Visit to Roots Farm Shop with SI Middlesbrough
Roots Farm Shop at East Rounton opened specially for local Soroptimists from Stockton and Middlesbrough to hear how diversification and passion for quality were key to the family’s successful business.
20 Members enjoyed home made cakes and coffee and a fascinating talk by Barry Hutchinson, the proprietor who outlined the difficulties for a small business to survive in the supermarket age.
