Rosemary Jean Carter


Rosemary Jean Carter, SI Stourbridge and District, died on August 4th 2014 aged 89. She joined the club in 1973 and was club president in 1991-1992, reviving membership fortunes.  She was awarded Honorary Life membership in 2008.

Rosemary taught music at Lordswood Girls Grammar school for many years where she was positive and encouraging and always with a calm smile.  This radiant calm smile will be a lasting memory for anyone who knew her.

She was a dedicated and loved member of the Clent community.  Every day, over the years she was seen out walking her beloved dog.  She was an organist and member of the choir at Clent church and organised a band of children to play for the hymn singing in services. She belonged to and was a working member of the Mothers’ Union, Garden Club. History Society, WI, and re-ignited a pensioners’ group, ‘the More the Merrier’, by playing the piano for singing at the meetings which she was still doing right up to her death. A person from Clent said, ‘Rosemary always encouraged people and gave them confidence to try out new things.  She was a very positive person ’

She will be greatly missed by many people.
