Tailoring Project – Friends of the Poor in South India

We supported a tailoring project run by the Trustees of the Friends of the Poor in South India.

In January 2016, fifteen young widows began a 6 month tailoring course to learn pattern cutting, design and sewing.  These skills will enable them to support themselves and their families in a society with no social security.

The Club presented the Trustees with a cheque for £713 to purchase sewing machines for the women to use when they graduated.  The purchase price will then be repaid from the profits made by the widows using a micro-finance scheme and hence the £713 will be reused in the future!
