{"id":4529,"date":"2024-07-04T12:22:01","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T12:22:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/surrey-hills\/?page_id=4529"},"modified":"2024-07-04T15:23:34","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T15:23:34","slug":"emergency-packs-for-the-royal-surrey-hospital","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/surrey-hills\/emergency-packs-for-the-royal-surrey-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency packs for the Royal Surrey Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Club supplies packs of toiletries for use by those accompanying patients who are admitted unexpectedly by the Palliative Care Unit.\u00a0 Concerned about the patient, the relatives often arrive at the Hospital without any provision for themselves.\u00a0 The emergency packs include flannels, shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrushes, combs, razors and other useful toiletries.\u00a0 This work is organised by member Jackie.\u00a0 All members, however, contribute to the contents.\u00a0 A typical pack is shown below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/surrey-hills\/files\/2010\/10\/hospital-packs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/surrey-hills\/files\/2010\/10\/hospital-packs-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/surrey-hills\/files\/2010\/10\/hospital-packs-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/surrey-hills\/files\/2010\/10\/hospital-packs.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 293px) 100vw, 293px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This project follows from our emergency packs provided for parents accompanying their children to the emergency ward.\u00a0 Over 1,000 packs were delivered over the years of the project.\u00a0 \u00a0Some thank you&#8217;s\u00a0 for that work:<\/p>\n<p><em>I was so touched by the wonderful care package I was given during very early hours of this morning on the Hascombe Children\u2019s Ward at The Royal Surrey County Hospital.\u00a0 Thank you so much.\u00a0 It had everything I and my teenage son needed; so kind, thoughtful and helpful at a time of need. <\/em><em>Thank you<\/em><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And another:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<em>Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for the toiletries you provided to Royal Surrey Hospital children\u2019s ward. I brought my 6 yr old son to A&amp;E this morning with vomiting bug, and ended up staying all day and overnight as he had to have IV fluids. The hospital shop seems to have disappeared, so we were stuck for overnight toiletry essentials as I couldn\u2019t leave him alone to go out and buy some.
