Soroptimist International - Swansea

Soroptimist International of Swansea is part of a worldwide organisation of women, which is linked to the United Nations.

Welcome to SI Swansea

formed in 1933

2023 set many challenges after 90 years since the Swansea Soroptimists were formed in 1933

In 2024 we are looking forward to recruiting new members to take us forward to our Centenary in 2033

The next meeting is a free Open Meeting at 7pm in St Paul’s Parish Centre (De la Beche Road SA2 9AR) with Evelyn Tuckett who will talk about Sketty Foodbank, a worthwhile and crucial organisation. Light refreshments and all welcome, men and women

President Angela’s theme until April 2023 was “Reflect, Recruit and Retain” whilst still having fun at our events.

We reflected on all the successes since Swansea Soroptimists was formed as the first club in Wales in 1933 and look to recruit new active members of club. We will continue to encourage and support young women and girls to reach their potential and support the 5 Ps

People, Prosperity, Planet, Peace, Partnership

We celebrated our 90th Anniversary with our popular Quiz Night and Raffle on Thursday 9th March at St Paul’s Parish Centre (SA2 9AR). Our Special guest was Regional President Sharon and we had another special guest! We raised £800 for the Turkey/Syrian earthquake victims.

At our September event in Sketty Parish Centre there was an opportunity to hear from a student who we financially assisted in her 10 months learning in Los Angeles.

The 16 days of Activism against Gender Based Violence runs from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

We supported this Orange the World campaign and had an Orange event: a Pre Loved Clothing and Accessories sale on Saturday 26th November St Paul’s Parish Centre in Sketty. We raised funds for Maggie’s in Swansea and the RNLI and our Orange poster supported the campaign.

WE WELCOME NEW MEMBERS TO SWANSEA SOROPTIMISTS SO JUST “CONTACT US” TO FIND OUT HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OR JUST FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OUR CLUB.
Members of SI Swansea continue to follow the aims and objectives of Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland after lock down.

WHO ARE WE?

SI Swansea is an organisation open to all women who support the aims of the organisation Soroptimist International to Educate, Empower and Enable women and girls.  In April 2022 we had 11 members but we need more active members.  Soroptimists are  women joining together to influence decision making and improve the lives of women and girls through action.

We want to help women and girls reach their potential, realise their ambitions and have an equal voice in creating strong and peaceful communities.

Would you like to make a difference to the lives of women and girls?
