Wales South Region-Anti Human Trafficking Week

Wales South Region – Anti-Human Trafficking week

Soroptimists say no to slavery in Wales

During Anti-Human Trafficking Week (13-18th October) more than 400 Soroptimists across South Wales distributed almost 3,000 stickers featuring Dewi, the red dragon with his blue blindfold. His message is simple: ‘Say no to slavery in Wales’.

Members of 18 Soroptimist clubs in the Wales South region distributed the stickers to schools, pubs, hotels, public toilets, shops and libraries, as part of the Welsh Government’s Anti-Human Trafficking initiative. They have adopted Anti-Human Trafficking as their Regional Project for 2014 and will be arranging further events in 2015.

Soroptimists are working in partnership with each of Wales’ Anti-HumanTrafficking Fora, the Government sponsored groups which discuss and agree local priorities and action. Members include representatives from police, probation, health, social services, CPS, Safer Wales, BAWSO and Barnardos.

Soroptimist International is a worldwide service organisation for women. For further information about your local club contact us through the Contact Us page.
