How have Swansea Soroptimists volunteered to help the Hospitals and Care Homes in the Area during Coronavirus times? Some members and their friends have dug out their sewing machines and knitting needles and volunteered to make masks, hats, headbands, dirty scrub bags and red hearts for staff of the local hospitals and care homesWe have used our old duvet covers and pillow cases and been supplied wool from Swansea Bay Knitters and Crocheters when we ran out of wool. Benjamin Clifford of Surfability We were delighted to hear Ben speak about the way he has been able to bring surfing to people who would not be abe to do it normally. He is a  winner of the Pride of Britain Award. Ben, an "inspirational surfer, gives people with disabilities the chance to experience the joy of the sport at world-leading surf school". Read about and see more pictures on his website. A small cheque was given to him after his after dinner talk. Members thoroughly enjoyed watching the young people enjoying themselves carefully managed by a group of skilled surfers. September 2020 We were delighted to see that DIY SOS has been building a bespoke HQ at Caswell Bay for Surfability. A programme for Children in Need will be on BBC1 in November 2020

The ladies arriving have often left home in a hurry without even any basic essentials. They often have children with them and a welcoming bag for them will help ease their initial trauma. What sort of items are needed? These could include soap, flannel, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shower gel, shampoo, nailfile, shower cap, hand cream, body lotion and tissues. Children's bags are also made available. What can I do to help? As soroptimists we rely on fundraising activities to raise funds for this and members also provide goods to fill the bags. Help is always needed and if you would like to donate any items or funds, especially
