June’s Jubilee Quiz event with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress as guests, raised funds for Ukrainians and towards our charities It was an opportunity to present 2 Toilet Twinning plaques for display in St Paul’s Parish Centre
We had an enjoyable evening to raise funds for Ukrainian Refugees. Our guests were the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Swansea and the the Vicar of Sketty Reverend Robert Davies-Hannen and his wife Jane. £300 will be given to support Ukrainian Refugees. It was also an opportunity to present Vicar Robert with 2 Toilet Twinning plaques for the Parish Centre loos. The money raised was made before the first Lockdown.
Soroptimists were seen planting trees in a community field leased by charity Climate and Community in Murton. The fruit trees were 1 cooking apple, 3 eating apples and a plum tree and were planted allow bio diversity and in an eco friendly way. The field will continue to be developed as a resource for the community and there will be learning opportunities to empower and enable young women and girls to develop their potential.
A Swansea Soroptimist planned, sourced and organised the planting of 25 fruit and nut trees as part of an A Rocha community Eco project in the grounds of St Paul’s Church, Sketty, Swansea. There are 9 Plums, 7 Cherries, 2 Crabapple, 2 Cobnut, 2 Medlar, 1 King of Damson, 1 Almond and a Walnut tree and the fruit will be enjoyed. 18 Blackcurrant bushes, 18 Gooseberry bushes and 100 RSPB bird friendly hedging bushes were also planted. The blossom will benefit birds, insects and the fruit will be enjoyed by all. Access and visibility from Singleton Park will improve health and well being of the local community. Planting trees is a Centenial project of Soroptimist International.
November 25th – December 10th are the United Nations 16 Days of Activism against the Gender Based Violence which has happened for many years. We wear Orange to show that you support this initiative
