Covid-19 Programme Action

What did we do locally during the Covid-19 Lockdowns?

It was difficult to raise funds at the moment for the charities and good causes we support. We were fortunate to raise over £1300 for Cruse Morgannwg at our lunch in March just before lockdown.

We rose to the challenge from Swansea Bay Health board through their Facebook page which has now been closed

We sewed over 450 items of the 7000 made by volunteer sewers and knitted red hearts for our nurses, doctors and other support staff and care workers.  When they were no longer needed as stock was provided by the Government, masks were sold to the public. This money helped us fund our other causes as coffee mornings and events cannot yet take place.

Patterned Masks April 2021: Clockwise: socks, bohemian rhapsody, green with brown spots, green lily pads, modern, swallows on copper, chrysanthemums with gold, turquoise pattern, dark blue with leaves, imagine, dark grey with pattern.

We look forward to helping at St Helen’s School once the schools return and allow us to help listening to reading again.

We were supporting the City Trussell Trust Foodbank at City Church Dyfatty Street Swansea SA1 1QQ before it closed but we were supporting the HOPFoodbank in Sketty Park financially. It has now become Sketty Foodbank and is supporting many refugee families with diverse needs.

We are continuing to fund our girl’s education and school uniform for 3 years in Cape Verde. We will be sending £140 for her in September 2020, 2021 and 2022.

We will continue to support the Swansea ABRSM High Scorers Concert when it returns to Mumbles.

We will add to the list as we do more.
