SI Cirencester & District

Cirencester market square

S.I. Cirencester and District is a vibrant, friendly club with 25 members and growing. The Club was chartered in 1948, a daughter Club of SI Gloucester, which has since closed.

Meetings are held twice a month. The first Wednesday is traditionally a Business and Programme Action meeting and takes place at the C-Hub in Bingham House, next to the Fleece Hotel in the centre of Cirencester. The third Wednesday is a Dinner meeting at the Royal Agricultural University with an invited guest speaker or a presentation from a club member.

In 1978 the Club was left a bequest by Dorothy Minnis, a former Treasurer of the Club. This legacy forms the Minnis Trust; the income for the investments are used for charitable purposes. It has enabled local young people to travel widely to further their education. The money has also been put to practical use for the benefit of the town.

The Club supports charities in the local area with fund raising and the wider community with raising awareness of issue that face us, including Human Trafficking, climate change and sustainability.

The Club has friendship links with SI/Europe Ogre-Kegums, Latvia, SI/Europe Itzehoe, Germany, and with S.I. Bury and S.I Durham in this country.
