SI Torquay

The Torquay and District Club was chartered in 1941, the “and district” because we include Newton Abbot, Totnes and Teignmouth areas in our membership.

We meet in Torquay at Rosegarth, I Tor Church Road on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 7-30pm. Rosegarth is shown above .

On the 1st meeting of each month we have a business meeting at which we discuss the running of the club, information from other branches of Soroptimism, ideas for future fund raising and social events.

The 3rd Tuesday we usually have a speaker meeting, chosen by the club and we try to provide a mixture of topics to suit all tastes.

We like to have a named charity each year but we do raise money for a variety of charities also.

Soroptimism is a service organisation so apart from fund raising we like to do hands-on service. Our project at the moment is one-to-one reading at a local school, together with our ongoing commitment to Rosegarth as a Housing Association property providing flats for six ladies.

We are a small friendly club that welcomes new ideas and new members.
