SI Taunton was presented with the Ellen Brawn Award for Good Practice at the Regional AGM in Tiverton on 17 June 2017
This is given for work in Programme Action and to SI Taunton in particular for their Swimathon event, which is in its 29th year this year. Since its inception in 1989 the Swimathon weekend has raised over £610,000 and helped over 70 local charities.
Accountants, law firms, other companies and organisations, swimming clubs and individuals and families assemble a team of swimmers and get sponsorship. SI Taunton handle all the promotion and organisation of the event, generously hosted by Taunton School. Each team of six swims for just under an hour. All swimmers get a medal and there are lots of trophies to be won!
