Soroptimist International South West & Channel Islands (SWCI) is part of Soroptimist International’s global volunteer movement, working to transform the lives of women and girls through a network of nearly 80,000 club members in 124 countries and territories worldwide. There are five international Federations; Soroptimist International of the Americas, Soroptimist International of Great Britain & Ireland (SIGBI), to which SWCI belongs, Soroptimist International of Europe, Soroptimist International of South East Asia Pacific and Soroptimist International Africa Federation.<\/p>\n

Soroptimist International (SI) and SIGBI both have consultative status at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations (UN), which gives us a voice on important discussion papers, and allows us to attend the Commission on the Status of Women in New York each March, and contribute to the \u201cAgreed Conclusions\u201d. This status would not be possible without the fantastic work being done by our members.<\/p>\n

The SWCI region comprises fifteen Clubs spread geographically from Gloucestershire in the north and Wiltshire in the east, down to Cornwall in the deepest south west and includes Guernsey and Jersey in the Channel Islands. Clubs vary in size and members come from all walks of life. The common thread you will find is a willingness to make a difference, to follow similar values and objectives, and to have fun and make friends along the way in order to help women and girls in our local communities, throughout our region, nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n
