Horrifyingly, this crucial service is dependent on public donations for 92% of its funding, even though 90% of the children need nursing care from two nurses.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;22px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5>Purpose-built facilities<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;22px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Members Lydia, Rozza and Lynnette were in awe of the staff&#8217;s dedication and of the amazing thought that has gone into the building and garden to help children and their families. We were delighted to do the official presentation of our \u00a3360 donation from our <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/swindon-and-district\/2024\/01\/31\/raffle-results\/\">Christmas Raffle<\/a>, held in aid of Julia&#8217;s House.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;22px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]The Devizes hospice is the second Julia&#8217;s House hospice and it was humbling to see the thought and dedication that has gone into the building. \u00a0The therapy and activity rooms are a riot of colour and innovative specialist toys are provided to meet the needs of children with all types of sensory issues. The special bath with lights and jets was a particular wonder to behold.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;6&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1714959504463-b10170ce-a5d8-2&#8243; include=&#8221;5782,5783&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Images from the outdoor play area<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;22px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Currently, the hospice in Wiltshire supports 43 children and six bereaved families. Bereavement support can continue for up to five years if necessary. Julia&#8217;s House provides 200 hours of care per year to each child, and children may be supported in the hospice or at home. 57% of children are supported in the hospice and 43% are supported at home.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5>Other supporters of Julia&#8217;s House<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;12&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1714959183093-64182896-35c6-3&#8243; include=&#8221;5785&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;36px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Along with the facilities, our members also had the unexpected chance to see the Iron Man helmet donated by Robert Downey Jnr after he donated \u00a31M from a charity auction he held for Julia\u2019s House![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<em>Julia\u2019s House provides practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at its hospices.
