After five years of raising money\u00a0 the new emergency vehicle for the Tame Community First Responders. was unveiled by Mayor of Tamworth, Cllr Richard Kingstone, in Tamworth Castle Grounds.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1375″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]This was a joint service project with Tamworth Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Tamworth Anker, Tamworth Lions,\u00a0Tamworth Round Table, and The Inner Wheel of Tamworth Anker Rotary Club.<\/p>\n

Background to the project<\/p>\n

The existing vehicle does not have the capability of reaching people in inaccessible rural areas. A vehicle having a 4\u00d74 specification is required.<\/p>\n

The total cost of a vehicle \u201cFit for Purpose\u201d is \u00a325,000. If Tamworth Service Clubs can raise \u00a315,000, CFR are then able to apply for lottery funding for the balance of \u00a310,000.<\/p>\n

It is therefore proposed that events will be organised over a targeted 18months to raise the funds needed.<\/p>\n

Our first event, a duck race, raised over \u00a31,000. Five hundred plastic ducks started at Bolebridge and crossed the finishing line in the Castle Grounds.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”532″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The winners were Soroptimist Margaret Walters and Rotarian John Kingslake who are pictured receiving their cheques from the Mayor.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”994″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]August<\/p>\n

Royal-themed Jubilee Ball<\/p>\n

It is hoped that the funds from the Royal-themed Jubilee Ball raised will top \u00a31500.<\/p>\n
