This will be adjacent to the secondary school we have built in Bai Largo, Kori district, Sierra Leone. The planting of trees was very dear to Johanna\u2019s heart &#8211; and so was our Kori project of which she was Chair.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/thames-valley\/files\/2021\/09\/DSCF6583-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-4834\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/thames-valley\/files\/2021\/09\/DSCF6583-2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>It is hoped that the school children will help to plant the trees and eventually take part in harvesting the crops. We will need to fence the land, buy tree guards to protect the young trees from smaller animals. and also want to build sturdy benches.<\/p>\n<p>All of this is anticipated to cost \u00a35,000 and we are hoping that Johanna\u2019s Soroptimist friends will consider helping to finance this project in her memory.<\/p>\n<p>If your club would consider making a donation to our project it can be done directly to our club bank account, marking it \u201cMemorial Orchard\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 The appeal will close at the end of June 2022.
