{"id":5453,"date":"2026-08-02T07:02:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T06:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/thames-valley\/?p=5453"},"modified":"2026-08-04T13:51:25","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T12:51:25","slug":"stop-violence-against-women-joint-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/thames-valley\/2026\/08\/02\/stop-violence-against-women-joint-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop Violence Against Women &#8211; JOINT CONFERENCE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>The Soroptimists of the Thames Valley<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> will be hosting a joint conference with The Soroptimists of High Wycombe at Buck New University on <\/span><b>Saturday 17th October 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> 10.00am until 1.00pm to explore ways to protect women from violence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Several high profile cases have hit the headlines recently but did you know that 65% of all women and 85% of women aged 18-24 experience unwanted sexual attention in a public place?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is an issue for our whole community and we want to engage everyone, including men and women, in building safer environments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Conference aims to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0raise awareness of the importance of reporting non-contact sexual crimes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">help bystanders to take safe supportive action if they see someone who is in trouble or a victim of unwanted harassment.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your voice matters.
