SI Fylde have Friendship Links with other Clubs in the Federation and they meet up from time to time to share news and ideas.
SI Tynedale have been a Friendship Link for many years and are based in Hexham in the Northern England Region. They work on various projects including working with girls in Rwanda – training girls and young women in cookery skills and also on a project called Chrysalis – helping those with dementia, their families and carers. This charity was set up by an ex member and her friends.
SI Guernsey in the Channel Islands has also been a link for a number of years. Guernsey is a thriving club with over 50 members and they work on a number of issues including supplying much needed goods to Afghanistan. it is hoped to work with them on a project sometime soon and Occasionally a Fylde Soroptimist has been over to Guernsey and met the members..
SI Skipton-in-Craven in the Yorkshire region is a relatively new Link but members do visit each other and support events. Members of Skipton recently joined us for a visit to Dewlay cheese factory followed by afternoon tea at Barton Grange and we had a wonderful time. It is hoped that we may work more closely with them on projects.
SI Bonaberi in the Cameroon undertakes various projects for the health and wellbeing of women and children and Fylde Soroptimists support them whenever possible.
SI Fylde are looking to forge further friendship links overseas and work on projects that will benefit local communities there.
