Members took part in the Poppy Appeal by collecting and selling poppies at Sainsbury\u2019s Torquay, all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion, each \u00a31 donated for a poppy, goes towards a wide range of services and support for our veterans, serving personnel of the British Armed Forces and their families.\u00a0 The Poppy Appeal would not happen without volunteers and many veterans would not be able to get the help that they need. \u00a0Hopefully we will be helping to make a huge difference to the lives of the Armed Forces community.<\/p>\n

Jane Pearce, Gaynor Raisey, Barbara Soames, Pat Teague and Gill Wood, represented the club to show respect for the servicemen and women of Britain and the Commonwealth who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect us, on Sunday 13th November 2016, at the Remembrance Sunday Parade which took place at the War Memorial, Princess Gardens, Torquay.<\/p>\n

This year, The Royal British Legion asked the nation to Rethink Remembrance<\/em> by recognising the sacrifices made not just by the Armed Forces of the past, but by today\u2019s generation too.<\/p>\n

For many people, Remembrance is associated with the fallen of the First and Second World Wars. While we will always remember them, the Legion wants to raise awareness of a new generation of Veterans and Service personnel that need our support.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
