Margaret was voted into post by the Federation Management Board.<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"\/tynemouth\/files\/2019\/05\/balloons.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2266 aligncenter\" src=\"\/tynemouth\/files\/2019\/05\/balloons-154x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"154\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/tynemouth\/files\/2019\/05\/balloons-154x300.jpg 154w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/tynemouth\/files\/2019\/05\/balloons.jpg 175w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 154px) 100vw, 154px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Archivists acquire, manage and maintain documents and other materials that have historical and cultural importance for individuals, organisations and nations.<\/p>\n<p>A large part of the work is related to preserving information and making it accessible to users, increasingly in digital format.<\/p>\n<p>Archives may include valuable historical books, papers, maps and plans, as well as photographs, prints, films and computer-generated records.
