#EndBedPoverty This petition was featured on BBC breakfast 26 January 2022.  Link https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/604509?fbclid=IwAR3to-O-pYrih2zIRSTtBKGymdFGuQ6Tz8ebghfrBCK_n4dK8RgvZpXp_y8 “A  teacher in 2018  started a bed poverty charity, since then schools have referred 1400 children without beds. Bed poverty is affecting educational outcomes for children across the UK. A national sleep strategy must resource local authorities to identify, address and ultimately end bed poverty” Last year Bex applied to the charity commission to change Zarach’s constitutional charitable objective from the jurisdiction of ‘Leeds’ to ‘UK’. It was (quite rightly) rejected. They said Zarach didn’t have the structures or means to be able to tackle bed poverty UK wide. On reflection this was true. After lots of back and forth, it was changed to ‘Leeds and surrounding areas’ with the promise it could reapplied for should circumstances change. What is the survey about? This is a survey about your experience of thinking about using domestic abuse services, trying to use domestic abuse services, and what it is like using domestic abuse services. We are running this survey so that we can understand what is good about domestic abuse services in different areas of the country, and what could be made better. We will tell public bodies like the Government and local councils about our findings so that they can improve domestic abuse services in your area. By domestic abuse services we mean services that are just for helping people who have experienced domestic abuse. The organisation that provides the domestic abuse service might also provide other types of services. There is an explanation in the survey that explains what types of domestic abuse services exist in case you are unsure what we mean.

Signal For Help             The social isolation measures necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic are making it more difficult for those who are at risk of abuse or violence to safely reach out for help. “Signal for Help” is a simple one-handed sign someone can use on a video call. It can help a person silently show they need help and want someone to check in with them in a safe way. There’s ample evidence that disaster situations can lead to a surge in gender-based violence. Public health directives on home isolation might increase danger and risk for people in abusive relationships. The Signal for Help is a tool that may help some people, some of the time. Some people do not have the ability to make video calls. Please find other resources, services, and programs below that may be helpful in an

Take action for hedgerows!

Take action for hedgerows!

Call on the government to champion hedgerows 18,627 people have taken action so far. Help us reach 20,000. The humble hedgerow is the unsung hero of our countryside.  Hedges connect habitats and provide homes for wildlife. They protect the soil, clean the air and absorb carbon emissions. They are nature’s key workers.  But around half our hedgerows have been lost since the end of the Second World War – leaving us vulnerable to the threats of climate change and air pollution, while intensifying nature’s decline.  That’s why we’re calling on the government to commit to planting thousands of miles of hedges all across the country – starting now.   At this critical time, will you demand that the government takes action?  https://takeaction.cpre.org.uk/page/85848/petition/1?ea.tracking.id=facebook-cpre&fbclid=IwAR148SgdiLcZnV9Y6XkoYxPTtBgoDCP0ksPEm_1Wih-pdeJzwJowLY9rjpk Expanding our hedgerow network will provide a natural solution to climate change while revitalising our landscapes.  It will create new lifelines for bees, hedgehogs, dormice and much of the other wildlife we love so much, while
