UKPAC 2020 Study Day – 1 August 2020 – Register now


The UKPAC 2020 Study Day is taking place on 1 August 2020 at Durham University Business School.

Registration is now open to both Soroptimists and non Soroptimists.

The registration fee for the day, including lunch and refreshments, is £69.00.

There is the option to book accommodation at £50.00 per night at Collingwood College on the Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday, plus on the Friday there will be a three course meal at a cost of £17.00 per delegate. Again this is optional, but may be a good opportunity to meet the other delegates.

The programme for the Study Day includes both speakers and workshops. The full programme and timetable for the day are in the docuements below, which can be printed for your reference:

Speakers are Dame Sarah Thornton, UK Independent Anti Slavery Commissioner,  a Governor from a local Female Prison and one of our UN Representatives at the UN Vienna, as well as the workshops.

There are two workshops: Suicide Awareness Training and UK Modern Slavery Training. Please select your preference when making your booking.

The closing date for registration is 1 July 2020. Please note any cancellations must be received before 1 July 2020 and a £5.00 handling charge will be deducted from the total fee received.

VENUES TO EXPLORE IN DURHAM

The Oriental Museum https://www.dur.ac.uk/oriental.museum/ The Oriental Museum is open Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm and Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays, 12pm – 5pm.

The Botanic Garden:  https://www.dur.ac.uk/botanic.garden/  The Botanic Garden is open:  10am to 5pm from 1st March to 31st October

Durham Cathedral : https://www.durhamcathedral.co.uk/  Group packages are available for either a free-flow visit with a self-guide leaflet each, or a guided tour of the Cathedral which last approximately one hour.  The group rate is £5.00 per person for groups of 12 or more for a visit to the Cathedral, or £10.00 per person for a discounted joint ticket for the Cathedral and Open Treasure.  Smaller groups can also be arranged to suit their requirements.  Open Treasure the new world-class exhibition, displays some of the Cathedral’s fascinating Collections acquired over the centuries.  The visitor experience has been transformed with access to some of the Cathedral’s most spectacular spaces within the Claustral buildings; journeying through the 14th century Monk’s Dormitory, through the Collections Gallery with a fascinating rolling programme of exhibitions, and finishing in the monastic Great Kitchen with the Treasures of St Cuthbert showcasing St Cuthbert’s original wooden coffin and pectoral cross alongside some of the most significant surviving Anglo-Saxon artefacts in the UK.  Visits to the Open Treasure Exhibition are free-flow for visitors to view at their own pace.   Lunch or refreshments can be taken on an individual basis in the Undercroft Restaurant, just off the Cloister opposite the new Cathedral Shop which stocks a range of books and unique gifts to complete the visit.  Visitor will also be able to see Durham Cathedral in LEGO®, an incredible model which includes over 300,000 LEGO bricks and is on display in the Undercroft Foyer.   As a working Cathedral, groups are required to book ahead, checking the date and time of visit are available.  This is so we can advise you of major Services or events that might be taking place so you can get the most from your visit.  Group visits Monday-Saturday from 09.30am through to last tour at 4.00pm; Sunday 1.00pm through to 3.00pm.  Please find below Group Visit Request Form together with other information regarding group visits.  Once we have received the competed form, and subject to availability, a confirmation will be sent to you.  There is no coach access nor parking at the Cathedral, however there is free coach parking at the new Coach Park  www.durham.gov.uk/article/21749/Coach-parking-in-Durham-City .  A Cathedral Bus public shuttle-bus service is run by Durham County Council from the drop-off point to the Market Place and Cathedral.  There is a timetable for your information.  Please allow sufficient time to walk from the drop-off or Market Place if not using the Cathedral Bus service.  For information about Durham including maps, accommodation and tourist information, please visit www.thisisdurham.com  Contact:  Samantha Forster:  Tel:  0191 374 4050 or email samantha.forster@durhamcathedral.co.uk
