Welcome to Soroptimist International of Wakefield and District<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls with nearly 72000 members in 121 countries. The majority of members belong to their local club, where they can make friends with like-minded women and work on projects \u2013 local, national and international, always with an aim to educate, empower and enable women and girls.<\/p>\n

The Wakefield club is quite small, with 21 members, but we have been involved in many projects over recent years and have formed partnerships with Mary\u2019s Meals, The Prince\u2019s Trust, Wakefield City of Sanctuary, Askham Grange Women’s Prison, Barnardo\u2019s Young Carers. We have planted lots of trees, donated several Dementia robotic cats and have sponsored a Blue Plaque in Wakefield to recognise the work of Florence Beaumont in the campaign for women\u2019s rights and suffrage.<\/p>\n

We are a friendly club, enjoying various social activities and we meet at the Barnabas rooms at St. Paul\u2019s church, every 2nd and 4th Thursday, 7.30pm, alternating meetings between business and speaker\/social. You will be made very welcome if you would like to come along one evening (with no obligation to join!).<\/p>\n
