Celebrating Chinese New Year 2017
Having fun often goes with enjoying food. Club members and friends celebrated Chinese new year in January with a wonderful Chinese meal at our meeting venue: the Hollins Hey Hotel. Following the meal we had a Chinese auction raising funds for our charities.
Fundraising at the charity shop in September 2016
Club members have had a busy week running the charity shop in Wallasey. As we raise funds for our charities this year, which include Mary’s Meals and Tam O’Shanter Urban Farm – both offer educational opportunities to children, we offer very affordable clothes and household items to local people. Its hard work but everyone enjoys the experience and we meet some wonderful local people.
Club members who enjoy knitting, crochet or sewing meet on a regular basis to share skills and ideas, and have a good social afternoon at a member’s home. They make a huge variety of items for sale which boosts the Club’s charity funds. Items vary from small woolen toys such as teddies, bunnies and owls; to larger fabric items such as peg bags and aprons for adults and children. Easter time sees the production of chicks stuffed with a creme egg while for Christmas items include tree decorations and father Christmas ornaments.
