{"id":46,"date":"2011-08-28T15:05:53","date_gmt":"2011-08-28T15:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soroptimist-gbi.org\/weston-super-mare\/?p=46"},"modified":"2018-11-14T11:28:11","modified_gmt":"2018-11-14T10:28:11","slug":"skirting-science-is-best-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/weston-super-mare\/2011\/08\/28\/skirting-science-is-best-in-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Skirting science is best in the world!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of SI <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-47\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/weston-super-mare\/files\/2011\/08\/img_2247-resized.jpg\" alt=\"Optometry\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Weston-super-Mare were thrilled when their project &#8220;Skirting Science &#8221; was awarded a Best Practice Award at the 19th International Convention of Soroptimist International. \u00a0 This took place in July at the Palais de Congres in Montreal.\u00a0 1200 Soroptimists from all over the world heard Skirting Science, now in its third year, declared the Best of the Best and 3 members of the Club were there to receive the applause.\u00a0 Ruth Thomas, Chairman of the Skirting Science committee, said &#8220;This was totally unexpected.\u00a0 I am delighted, as encouraging girls into science is important and the whole club has been involved in putting on this event.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Skirting Science has been highlighted in the new Global Impact Report as an example of how a project should be organised.\u00a0 It fits the new Long Term Project theme\u00a0 &#8220;Education and Leadership&#8221;.\u00a0 Weston Soroptimists plan to continue holding the one-day event annually.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members of SI Weston-super-Mare were thrilled when their project &#8220;Skirting Science &#8221; was awarded a&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":165,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-46","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-club-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Skirting science is best in the world! | News | Blog | Events | SI Weston Super Mare and District<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"SI Weston Super Mare and District : Blog &amp; News : Skirting science is best in the world! : Keep up to date with the latest news, articles and events from the Soroptimists of SI Weston Super Mare and District .
